The training centre
Our new training centre is located in Athens and is easily accessible by all forms of public transportation. All spaces are designed to be fully accessible to individuals with mobility challenges.
Montessori Greece began its journey in 2002 under the name “The Montessori Lab” and has been evolving and growing ever since. Its journey is reflected in several locations, from Petralona to Kifissia, then to Koukaki (Styloi Olympiou Dios), and today in a modern educational center in central Athens. The Centre today can simultaneously host two training courses for AMI educators, as well as short-term seminars, lectures and other educational and professional development activities.
The facilities include two fully equipped lecture rooms, as well as auxiliary spaces that meet students’ daily needs (kitchen, cloakroom, restrooms). The lecture halls are equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and teleconferencing facilities, enabling students from every corner of Greece and abroad to participate. These spaces host AMI courses, as well as lectures, professional development seminars, and workshops that highlight the application of the Montessori approach across a wide range of ages. Educational support for students is complemented by the center’s lending library, which features works by Dr. Maria Montessori, as well as Greek and foreign-language literature on child development, education, psychology, and related scientific fields. All spaces are designed to be fully accessible to individuals with mobility challenges.
The practice rooms are equipped with the complete Montessori educational materials for each age group and offer trainees the opportunity to study them and practice using and presenting them in conditions that simulate a real Montessori school – with no children present! In this way, they are offered the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge, self-confidence, and practice with the materials in a safe learning environment, before entering an actual Montessori classroom.
There are fully developed, specially designed Montessori Practice rooms for children aged
- 0–5 months (Nido) & 6–30 months (Infant Community)
- 3– 6+ years (Children’s House).
At the new educational centre, there is a complete educational environment for children aged 0–3, with all the necessary educational materials for this age group—from birth through 2.5–3 years.

Although the Training Centre is located in Athens, Montessori Greece conducts training activities throughout Greece. The lecture halls are equipped with videoconferencing facilities, so trainees from every corner of Greece—as well as countries abroad—can participate. At the same time, lectures, screenings, and seminars are organised in various regions of mainland Greece and the islands – e.g. Veroia, Larissa, Paros, Chios. Lectures and Seminars are currently being planned to take place in other parts of the country.
