Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1929 with the aim of preserving the authenticity and integrity of the Montessori method, spreading its principles worldwide and defending the rights of the Child.
In the Montessori philosophy, every adult who works with a child is recognised as a key factor in the child’s development. For this reason, AMI trains adults to recognise and respond to the needs, potential and unique rhythm of each child’s development, regardless of the environment in which they are growing up.
The goal is to create a strong emotional and moral foundation upon which children can grow into responsible, independent and self-confident individuals who feel they belong to their community and wish to make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.
AMI trains educators to create prepared learning environments that encourage children’s activity, independence and initiative, fostering curiosity, a love of learning, collaboration, and the joy of discovery.
